Seize The Moment or Lose The Opportunity

Thursday, December 6th, 2007

After delivering my speech last week, at the Inn at Castle Hill in Newport, Rhode Island, and while walking outside, I noticed the beautiful and serene picture of nature. The geese, somewhat motionless, seemed to ignore me as they were calmly looking at the water. I aimed my camera, one shot taken, and just before I was ready to take the next shot, they decided to take off. I was probably too close for their comfort. I quickly took two more shots, nature slightly disturbed, yet amazingly even more beautiful.

With life’s opportunities all around us, how often are we able to seize the moment and take the shots we need to take so we don’t miss the most beautiful and rewarding ones?

How Come No Inquiries Are Coming In?

Sunday, December 2nd, 2007

After dinner last night, my wife and I went to Caribou Coffee to get a latte. While the coffee was being prepared, I was looking at the announcement board and this ad seemed to grab my attention. It immediately became obvious to me, that the person designing this ad, apparently never realized that they omitted the most critical and important information:

How would any interested individual contact this ad without a name, a phone number an email address or a physical address?

Make sure your contact information is clearly visible on all of your marketing material.

Are You Too Scared Of Success?

Saturday, December 1st, 2007

Francis Ford Coppola (age 68), five-time academy award winner, director of movies such as: The Godfather, The Conversation and Apocalypse Now, was interviewed this morning on CBS News Sunday Morning.

His life-story attribute that resonated with me most was his tenacity. Although he became quite successful at an early age, he almost faced business financial ruin and was on the verge of bankruptcy. This did not deter him from taking additional risks and rebuilding his enormous success and wealth again. He said in the interview today:

“Life is short and you don’t want to be an old guy counting his last heart beat thinking about all the things you wanted to do that you didn’t do because you were scared. What’s to be scared of in life? In the end it all ends the same.”
